I’m wearing a figure 8 bun for the first time in public and am enjoying it. I’ve actually gotten quite a few comments on it!
One of my co-workers came in the restroom just as I was putting my hair into the figure 8 with Fox’s hair sticks (same sticks as here, but different bun):

)
She said, “That looks GORGEOUS. I don’t know how ‘you people’ do it!”. I think ‘you people’ refers to the ladies here who put our hair in updos on occasion. She seems to think it must take a lot of talent – lol! Well, I can certainly attest to the fact that that just ain’t so!
Then, I had to get my yearly OB-GYN checkup today and the nurse asked how I did my “fancy hairdo”. When I explained how simple it was to do, she laughed and said she just envisioned me in front of the mirror taking a long time since it looked so complicated. I actually put it up at work in the five minutes I had before rushing to the doctor.
And finally, another co-worker who has hair down to her butt and ALWAYS wears it in a crown braid, asked me how I got my hair up in “that fancy ‘do”. I explained it and she’s going to go get some hair sticks and try it herself.
So, this has been a good updo day. It’s the second time I’ve worn an updo out in public and the time just felt right. Not to mention my hair was too oily today to even wear it in a pony tail (my old, boring stand-by).
It’s gym day and when I get there I’ll have to change to a high bun so that I can wear my bandana around my head - since I sweat a lot. It’s interesting seeing how the other women put their hair up out of the way to exercise. Some don’t though, and I can't figure out how they can stand it hanging around their face the whole class.
I ordered the leather slides I mentioned yesterday so am anxiously awaiting their arrival.
