Rainy Day In Georgia

I woke up to a deluge! The rain pounding on the roof lulled me back to sleep once and it was a struggle to stay awake and finally get up. I wanted so to roll over, hug my sweetie, pat my kitty's head and drift off again. We need the rain and it was not a bad drive for me to work since I go through wooded neighborhoods, but to stay home would've been heaven. I love the rain! And, here is a nice rain poem related to hair...

They have painted and sung
the women washing their hair,
and the plaits and strands in the sun,
and the golden combs
and the combs of elephant tusks
and the combs of buffalo horn and hoof.

The sun has been good to women,
drying their heads of hair
as they stooped and shook their shoulders
and framed their faces with copper
and framed their eyes with dusk or chestnut.

The rain has been good to women.
If the rain should forget,
if the rain left off for a year-
the heads of women would wither,
the copper, the dusk and chestnuts, go.

They have painted and sung
the women washing their hair-
reckon the sun and rain in, too.

Women Washing Their Hair by Carl Sanburg

I washed again last night with the AO I used in a previous post and found it just as enjoyable. I put my hair in a high bun before bedtime in hopes of having nice waves and no frizz this morning. Well, that wasn't to be. The waves were irregular and unattractive, so I misted with distilled water to bring back my natural texture - and now I am quite happy with it. I walked outside and let the rain give it a light misting as well and now my hair feels very soft and a bit fluffy - but it's not what I'd call frizzy. I'm wearing it down and feel it is a nice contrast from my pulled back updo of yesterday.

Tonight is weight lifting class again and I am still sore from Tuesday night. Not enough to keep me from going and just enough to let me know that the weight was just about right for me! I've been wearing my hair in a high pony braid the last week in class. It works out very well. I have noticed that I am behind the times when it comes to workout garb. Lol... I wear what I wore from when I started working out in 1980's - tights and a leotard - and nowadays, a T-shirt on top. I don't wear the leg warmers anymore though and haven't for a long time... lol... But others are more stylishly attired. I'm not there to impress anyone, so pay it no mind and don't plan to buy new workout clothes to sweat in! But I do enjoy seeing what people wear.
