The leaves are just starting to turn and there is a crispness in the air that I love. The humidiy is gone and everything is just so much more vivid and clear. I love this time of the year! I pulled out a big sweater and had it on last night before I decided to sink down into a warm, bubbly bath instead. October - my favorite month.

Mike and I took Sunday off and went for a bike ride. The weather was perfect for being out on the bike with the air whipping about us. I wore my hair in a long braid that I put beneath my vest. We went north looking for property to build our dream house on. Just north of where we live are a LOT of equestrian homes where the folks have acres and acres and beautifully landscaped pastures and yards - and beautiful horses! The area is just gorgeous. We’re looking for less the 5 acres and were just pricing what was available and looking where we might want to buy. Land shopping on a Harley is the way to go - you're close and personal! We found some reasonable land, but we’re about 5 years from buying. It was a gorgeous drive through the country though – and it reminded me of Atlanta when I was a kid – when my neighbors had horses and goats and the country was our own backyard. Sigh… I don’t like big cities. I live north of town, but it’s still very much attached to the city.

Here is a picture of Mike last fall with his bike in the front yard. My seat is the little one in the back. It's a fun ride!

I’ve been using the Shikai ‘poo and conditioner I mentioned in my last entry for CWCing with a vinegar rinse before the final condition, and have been very happy with my hair lately. It’s soft and shiny and feels great. I’ve been adding a cone serum after adding jojoba to my damp hair just to see how my hair likes it since I’ve not used cones in a few months. So far so good. It definitely helps in brushing and combing my hair. I don’t get lots of tangles anyway, but the cones make my hair slicker so that the few I do get come our easily. Cones really make my hair less wavy though. My hair is almost as straight as when I used to blow it dry. At almost waist-length, most of the wave is all but gone anyway unless I plop - and I’m not into plopping much these days. I have very weak waves. Air drying on my way to work during the week is working out well while it’s still pretty warm outside. Once it gets cold, I’ll just go back to washing the night before. I've not had any desire to go back to the hair dryer.

I’m looking forward to my hair actually reaching waist. For me, that’s 32”. I’m at 31” now, so in two more months I hope.
