I'm going to cut!

Well, I have decided to definitely get my hair cut. Yep, the length is just not complimentary on me worn down anymore and I dislike wearing it up all the time. People talk about the "wow factor" when taking down long hair and that's fun, but I'd rather have a whole person wow factor when I walk in the room. I think different people look good with different lengths of hair and not everyone looks good with very long hair. Age doesn't have much to do with it. To each his own though; it's just hair and you should do what makes you happy. For me, I miss a lot of the 'dos I used to wear, like these two:

Though I want mine a longer than it was then. (Note: my old camera didn't capture my hair color very well!)

I can never wear half ups anymore and used to wear them a lot and loved them. My updos look good for what they are, but they really make me look more conservative and rigid that I am - and I don't like that! I want to project more of the way I see myself (progressive and artistic! ). So, I'm thinking about going back to a length a little longer than this:

When my hair was shorter, I could coax out waves more easily or go straight. I had so many more options - and I like options. The main thing though is that I could wear it down. I've never had the goal of super long hair because I never thought it would look that complimentary on me. The longer it gets the more I realize I was right. My main goal was to grow out my perm, which I did. Then, I decided to go for waist, which I've reached. Now that I'm here and lookin' around, I think I'd like to go back to somewhere between BSL and waist. That's when I was happiest with my hair.

I just made an appointment with my regular guy (the one who colors my hair) to cut it. I saw him last night for color and we talked about cutting it, but I just wasn't ready. (I trust him because when he trims my hair he always does exactly what I ask. He knows I like long hair. ) I went home and talked to Mike to get his input and he's for whatever makes me happy. He did say he thought maybe trimming off 3" would "thicken up the ends" though. He's never once complained about my updos, but I know he prefers my hair down as much as I do.

Anyway, my tentative plan right now is to have 3" cut off the length and get a more U-shaped hemline, so it's a bit shorter in the front (no layers though - at least not yet). After that, I might go a little shorter; I'm not sure yet. I want a length that allows me to wear it down whenever I want and up if/and when I want. And, no bangs.

And yes, I will post before and after pictures!
