I've been looking at four patterns, but finally decided on this one:
You can't see, but it has a slight train and laces up the back. My finished dress won't have trim on the ends of the sleeves and my sleeves will match the rest of the fabric. I also might not have trim around the neck... will just have to see how it looks once put togther.
This weekend I hope to make the muslin version just to make sure the size is correct for me. I'm also waiting for my dress form to arrive to help me along. Since I've not sewn much in 20 years, I need to do a decent fitting before cutting into my pretty fabric - just to see how true to size I am. I will probably have to make some adjustments since in the bust I wear a size 16 pattern
(patterns are WAY different from a ready-made dresses, where I wear a size 10!), but my waist is a size 12 and my hips are a size 14. Crazy, huh? Right now I measure (with bra on) 39-27-38. When I used to sew, I was 36-24-36... sigh... Anyway, I think I'd better make adjustments in the pattern on the muslin so I'll be ready to go on the real thing.
