I decided to make a muslin version of my dress to check for sizing, etc., and put it together today (well, minus one sleeve, but I don't think I need to add it for the rest of the fitting). The bust fits perfectly, but the waist and hips are a bit too big. The length of the sleeves are a little too long and the length of the dress in the front is a bit too short. So, I really don't have any major alterations to make and the dress went together quite easily. I've not added the lacing in the back, but will do that on this version before sewing the real dress since it will affect the fitting a lot. Here are some pictures of it in it's too big muslin state without the lacing or any trim:

finally shows the trim with the sheen it has. This isn't what the belt will look like, but it gives an idea and it will hang something like this.
I think I'm going to like the final version a lot - especially since the fabric is so much nicer.
