I was hoping to have more of a wedding/dress etc. update today, but life just keeps getting in the way. Good stuff and bad stuff - and I'm not complaining - just have too much to do!
Life update: Sunday was Mike's 47th birthday and one of my presents to him was to insist that he go with a buddy of his to a Harley Ride that benefited muscular dystrophy. There were about 300 bikes, police escorted, that made their way to that Atlanta Motor Speedway where they all got to take off on the race track. Mike said it was the most fun he ever had! While he was there, I ran around and picked up 24 balloons, a cake (I usually make my own cakes, but just didn't have time and wanted to get a small one so I wouldn't be too tempted to eat any) and some favorite things of his before he got home and we celebrated. He had a great day.
At the same time, Mike's father in Germany is dying of cancer and they didn't expect him to make it through the day. Mike kept hoping that he wouldn't die on his birthday. We didn't get a call, so he must still be hanging in there. Mike is a bit ambivalent about it - as his father was never very nice to him and they only recently "connected" when we went to Germany summer before last when Mike reached out to him. When Mike told him he loved him a couple of months ago, his father's response was, "Oh, okay" and he kept talking about something else. Not a very sentimental, sensitive or kind man, but I won't go into all that here. (He was not nice to me when I met him, so I have no feelings really for him at all.) The problem now is that when he does die, Mike will probably have to fly to Germany or Switzerland since he is one of the executors to his will.
Wedding Update: I got most of the final dress put together on Saturday, minus the long part of the sleeves - and on Sunday I made the lining and put it in. I didn't have all weekend to work on it like I'd hoped, but sometimes other things are just more important (like birthdays!). It went together really well, but I haven't fine-tuned the fitting yet. I don't have any pictures of anything since I just didn't have time to take any. Was running around both days trying to get things done - and that included laundry and all the other things one normally does on the weekend trying to catch up from a full work week. Except vacuuming. That could wait and did and there are bits and pieces of fabric here and there - and thread too, I'm sure. I'm just hoping I don't step on a pin.
That's it for now - back at work and need to get busy here too.

did die on Mike's birthday. How sad is that?
