Just passing an idea around. How would Papua New Guineans feel about a film set in the, 'reality of now', so to speak. A film in the visual perspective of the people struggling to make a living in e.g Port Moresby. The story can be based on facts and what not and have the same style as City Of God, Slumdog Millionaire (intro) and many others.
A collective of art students and I discussed the social implications of what a movie might instigate. My argument was that the more real the story, the better. Once Were Warriors did so well because that was what life then really was like.
So would a realistic movie set in Papua New Guinea upset people or would people be more open to the idea?
