I too luv watching survivor and caught the program tonite. I was however, quiet shock with the terms used to descibe the Vanuatuans. The participants kept describing them as "Natives". I thought in the 21st century with political correctness and sensivity, such participants would have been made aware that such words are not correct and should not be used...How about words such as locals, indegenous, Vanuatuans etc..

Also what do yous think about the initiation performance - Man! patriachy at it's best..division of men and women and men getting all the blessings..Does that mean the women are the outcast on the island of fire Vtu? if so I hope the women outclass the men..oops it happened tonight oledi...

My two pence only
Luv to hear from yous

Was also surprised that survivors in the show made comment about the people of Vanuatu, totally unacceptable.

Recently I was invited, with a group of other ppl to have a look at a newely constructed Greek Orthodox Church. Some of the ladies were not allowed to enter because they wore pants, yet all the men wearing pants we allowed. The men were invited to have a look at the paintings on the alter, no reason why the women can not have a look....(one would think) the women joined the group of men and some women actually stepped foot on the alter.....on boy that was a big no no...what a carry on.....women not allowed to step on the alter, only men were allowed.

You know it doesn't matter what culture we live in, males certainly like to dominate and women are still not equal....

SURVIVOR DISPLAYING THE WRONG MESSAGE TO THE WORLD

I haven’t heard anything about that episode of "survivor" shot in Vanuatu, let along watching it. But what I read in the newspapers few days back might have negative implication upon some, especially those from outside the Oceania region.

It was said in the advert in one of the local newspapers that Vanuatu is well-known for her BLACK MAGIC and CANNIBALISM among others..

While its true that people from all over the world might fall for the breath taking scene that most our Pacific Island countries have, it might fall short to the promotion of our good name overseas especially when Black Magic and Cannibalism among other things comes with it.

Its sad that SURVIVOR fail to erase those bad names and barbarisms acts of Noah's time from their scripts and give a good name to the country which needs positive image from the outside world...Now what are investors going to say before taking any step to invest in the region?? Cannibals in there, lets go to somewhere else...

Survey after survey, it reveals that the mass media has a very strong influence on society, thus the implication of their negligence to portray Vanuatu as that will only add weight to the most peoples belief in the Discovery Channel that Cannibalism is and still very much alive in the pacific.

Maybe am wrong, but am with students from all over the world... 120 countries around the world and some questions are just uncalled for.... especially degrading questions that most have thru watching Discovery Channel... png students you should have come across some if not then many..

Thank you very Much..

PS: The next episod, lets pray that they give a good name and come up with some new ideas about how to help the island nations... apart from the beautiful beaches and ladies (???) we have lots in the Caribbeans... sorry..

It was said in the advert in one of the local newspapers that Vanuatu is well-known for her BLACK MAGIC and CANNIBALISM among others..

>> a newspaper? how not surprising... the media n producers of survivor are just trying to dramatise the whole series... you know, make it look like those poor what, 18 survivors are in real danger from black magic n cannibalism etc. etc...

>> **** you don't actually beleive that do you? i mean, it may affect tourism, but investors? do you think companies have like a conference and pull out newspaper clippings of survivor ads n start shaking in shock horror at the thought of being eaten alive? i don't think so.
