Discuss personal, community and national health issues on this board. But remember, any advice you get here is not intended to substitute medical advice that your doctor can give you. Consult your doctor first!
Calm down, you need not worry because you can get help from a gyno doctor. You better visit your gyno doctor right away, do not wait and worry about getting pregnant.
PREGNANCY TESTS:
1. MONTHLY CYCLE: As a first crude test, review your last menstrual cycle. Day 1 is your first day of flow. Day 14 or 15 is the middle of your monthly cycle. If you had your unprotected sex between Day 8 and Day 21, well girl, you are likely pregnant now.
2. TEST KIT: You can buy a simple Pregnancy Test Kit from major pharmacies like City Pharmacy. Follow instructions given on the packet, very simple to use.
If one or both of above tests turn positive, indicating that you are pregnant, then visit your gyno doctor for assistance immediately.
RETHINK, LIFE IS FUN & PRECIOUS: You are worried about being pregnant because you had unprotected sex. I appears from your writing that you do not want your baby, guess because you are single. Rethink before you do anything silly or immoral because the baby is innocent and imagine the funfull life you will have when your baby arrives to live with you! Wouldn't that be great?
Hope above information is of some help to you. Should you wais to get further advise, please let me know.

That's good advice from papa but being a papa as well, I advise you speak to your docter.
Life is really hard in PNG these days, it's much harder for women who have kids out of wedlock and also its even harder for the child when he or she grows up without a father (particularly in our society).
Don't listen to all the rubbish out there, if you do not want the baby, go see your docter and they will give you some medication to assist. Its cheaper than having an operation and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than raising a child for 20 years on your own.
If any of my children get pregnant wihtout being married, I would get rid of the baby too.
Na next taim yu laik wokim wok, do yourself a favor, usim condom.

Don't be so crass papa to 'get rid of the baby', it is not a piece of rubbish, it is a gift from God and should not be treated lightly. Sex is an important part of marriage and should not be thought of as a game. People who treat it as such are bound to make mistakes. In our society now there are proven, 1 in 100 people with HIV, but in PNG the likely estimate is 3 in 10. Meeting a person in a night club or a bar with HIV is about 1 in 10. The riskier your life becomes the more likely you are to suffer from it.
Looking back at my own life i have made the same mistakes you are made, but i think the out comes will be a little different. I have a son who's 7 and a daughter 5, both unplanned, but in all that i went through i kept looking to the future. I had a bright future and even though i was naive i worked hard for my girlfriend/wife to get her through school and myself. I had understanding parents but i didn't shirk my responsibility.
Now you have an idea that it is your responsibility to make a decision in your best interests, i have a few options for you.
Firstly if you are pregnant and do not want to have the baby because you're young and scared and unsettled, you must know that abortion in PNG is still illegal. You and whoever assists you can go to jail. But it is in your best interest to go to the maternal clinic, the antenatal clinic or the gynae clinic. Doctor's know it is against the law, but it is better for them that they give you the right medication and help you than you going out and trying all sorts of remedies that are likely to kill you. If they won't help, Paradise Private offers discrete services for a fee of K500. I am a Doctor and can give you the dosages but it would be better to consult an obstetrician, n likely to cost less.
If you are not pregnant and after an abortion you need to start contraceptives. The best contraceptives for young women are the Oral Contraceptive Pill and Depo Provera. These should be used along with a condom, because although they guard against pregnancy they have no effect on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). The OCP can also be used in an emergency, for example, unprotected sex, upto 72hrs after the fact. You need to take 4 tabs as a single dose and 2 tabs 12 and 24 hrs later.
I hope this helps with your situation, remember, it may be cheaper and less embarrasing to get a remedy off the street but you are more important alive than dead.
