If you make a donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation, please mention "lacrosse" in a note with
the donation. At my request, in memory of my wife
Brenda, the CBCF will then direct the funds to a
facility seeking a "cure", rather than a "control".

Commish needs to chill and re-focus

by still perplexed (Login selmerman)

As a lax fan, I felt the commissioner's response to be a bitter, angry, and condescending insult to all lax fans. Granted, many posters put up nonsence, but most can be categorized as either providing factual information, or providing opinions, or asking questions. When it comes to the OLA and it's rules and actions from Mintogate, illegal players, rulings etc, the posters are not on the inside and do not possess the factual info, so they fall into the other categories, and raise questions and give opinions on what little information comes their way.

Instead of pretending to be the Wizard of Oz and keeping everything secret, or appearing to, why not be pro-active and clearly set out the rulings, the reasons, and what happens. For example, in Dean's post, why not clearly set out the grounds why the OLA exec overturned the initial decision, forcing another game. Without such transparency, it is no wonder that people snipe, that people call think it is run like a bush league, that people wonder and speculate about back door deals, preferential treatment towards some franchises, and the like.

A simple solution would be to use the official OLA site and make all these transactions and rulings public, so everyone knows what they can or cannot do, why decisions are made. You would certainly eliminate useless posts.

We are all devoted lacrosse fans, why treat us with such disdain? We produce amongst the best players in the world, why can't the commish and the OLA spend a little time (it is not money), to be more transparent, thus hopefully avoiding the yearly controversies that plague the OLA. It's not rocket science, it just takes a little time and and a little care for the lacrosse fans of the province.
