You must be new...by Tsitshoh (Login tsitshoh)
You must be new so I'll give you a break. My name is Todd Powless, from Oshawa and I will be at the Oshawa Minor AGM this Wednesday if you would rather talk to me in person. Just ask for me, others will gladly point me out. You can even email me if you would rather chat about something in private.
Get it? I don't hide behind an anonymous internet username. There are others here that don't hide either and if you really want to know you can find out who they are. They don't hide because they have no need to. They stand behind their ideas. Most of these are the people who have been engaging in this lively debate. I know who they are, they know who I am. We are the ones that step up and do stuff, usually for others more than our own. We do it for the game and the kids. They will all agree. Trust me, none of us is in it for the money.
I hold these folks to a higher standard because I respect their ability, their knowledge and their opinions even if we vehemently disagree. If I didn't, I wouldn't bother to take the time to respond, be articulate and debate in good faith. It has been this way on the OLA Fan Forum for years and it isn't going to change.
Some posters remain anonymous, but can debate and discuss respectfully, offer good ideas to think about and can present their position passionately without taking things so personally. I know the identities of some of these folks and we protect their identities so they can share their ideas, opinions and knowledge freely without any repercussions. That is, what they have to say is more important than knowing who they are.
But some posters hide behind their anonymous internet username and take insulting potshots for no other sake than to satisfy some weird psychological need to be internet tough guys. We call these people "trolls" and they are fair game because all they are is a username and nothing more. If you think insulting an internet troll is bad form then avoid internet forums period. Because you will be the troll's next target. And if they insult your anonymous internet username here, don't come on crying about it.
As for raising questions about my family and dragging them into the debate then I think you have to ask yourself what your role will be here. Do you want to be a respected poster that can stay in bounds, articulate your position in a valid way and not take things too personally? Or do you want to be an internet troll? The choice is yours.
