Out of 12 games played, not a single game went to overtime, and only 1 was a 1-goal game.
The next 2 closest games were won by the higher seed by 3-goal margins.
9 games could be classified as blowouts... 3/4's of the 1st round games were not even competitive.
It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over, and expecting different results.
If the Jr.A Council and the OLA do not change the rules pertaining to team spending, and more specifically, player aquisitions and compensation before next year, the results will be the same... the same "haves" will dominate the regular season, buy up all of the top players from the "have-nots", and it will be Groundhog Day all over again.
No new fans will be attracted to watch lacrosse in the "have-not" centres, or the "have" centres for that matter - new fans are attracted to competitive, exciting (close) games, not blowouts.
Jr.A lacrosse in Ontario will continue to stagnate.
It is far past time for some vision of what this sport could become by instituting the necessary changes to create competitive balance in the league.
The status quo sucks.
