This year in the Jr.A playoffs the series winners lost only two games. They had a combined record of 24-2. You have to go back to 1988 for the last time they lost so few. Only three series that year and the winners combined for a 12-2 record. Likewise for 1986. Now I'm not sure about 1958, 1953 or earlier - hopefully the Wamper's recent research has found the playoff results for those years. But it does look like the 2012 playoffs were the least competitive since 1950. Prior to 1950 only best of three series were played. This year no series went past 5 games. The only other time that has happened was in 1965, when three series went 5 games. Have we just witnessed the worst playoff season in league history? Is this just a one time thing or are those anti-mid season trading and anti-Minto format doomsayers right about global warming?
