I counter with the question: is it a debate we need to have? Mid season trading distorts the competition from the normal process Jr.A used to have. Doesn't matter if teams are or aren't involved in such trades, everything is effected. Is it a conversation we need to have every year?
Keep in mind I am not questioning the legitimacy of the Northmen championship. The Minto may do that - Ontario champ but lose the canadian title to another Ontario team - and that's a discussion we can revisit later if need be. What I pointed out is how poor the competition was this year. St.Catharines conceded their series before the playoffs even began. Whitby's motivation was compromised because it was in their best interest to lose. Plus the best of 5 quarter finals lead to quicker series. Down 2-0 teams usually throw in the towel. Down 2-0 in a best of seven that is not necessarily the case. In my opinion those are three issues which contributed to a disasterous playoff season. Will any of those issues be addressed?
