It had taken weeks, what with his constant scrying of the armies in Alyn, and the troublesome apprentice, Lilyana, he had to watch over. But at last the archmage could relax, his spells were completed to his satisfaction. He was fairly certain that no army would find the tower, much less breach its walls.
He stood in the top balcony and looked out over the peaceful forest, now an enchanted maze to those of ill-intent. He had even summoned some of the more dangerous forest creatures to den nearby, another set of enchantments protecting those welcome in the tower from harm.
All in all it was a brilliant combination of enchantments. He wondered what Manshoon would think, or even Splynncryth, should they attempt to visit their former pupil? Not likely.
Belasco sipped his brandy and set his eyes to the path of his future once more. He had a home once more, grander then anything even Augustus himself held on his homeworld. There was enough magic in this place to sustain him and his students forever if need be, but somehow he just didn't feel
old enough to be sitting in a tower combing his beard all day. His beard wasn't that long after all.
So then, what to do?
The answer was fairly easy to come up with. He'd always had a passion for it.
Travel, it was time to explore other worlds. It would not take long to set up a few safety spells, so that he could return to his tower without fear of getting lost. He was certain a magical simalcrum could handle any visitors that may come calling, at least until he could work a return spell.
Yes, he would explore new worlds and the planes beyond.
