An entertaining game at the recreation ground yesterday see Stanwell come back from 3-0 down to draw 4-4 against Draytonians. A hat trick from Coombsy and one from Matt Adams pulled the game back after a disastrous start from Stanwell. Playing a formation of 3-5-2 Stanwell struggled to cope with Draytonians and was 3-0 down within the first half hour. Stand-in assistant manager Lee Smither quickly changed the shape to a 4-4-2 and before half time Stanwell had pulled 2 goals back through Coombsy from close range and Matt Adams with a special from just outside the box. The second half started just as badly as the first and within 5 minutes it was 4-2 and soon after almost 5-2 as Jimmy Edwick pulled off the save of the season from a point blank Draytonians volley. The rest of the half belonged to Stanwell who stepped up a gear and totally dominated. On 65 mins Coombsy volleyed home from 8 yards to make it 4-3. Stanwell was now pushing for the win and on 80 minutes when Joe Johnson was chopped down in the box Coombsy hammered home the resulting penalty. There was still time for Stanwell to the win the game and in the final minute Matt Adams almost did it however the ball was played into the 6 yard box but matts studs and the ball seemed to get caught in the mud and draytonians scrammbled it away to safety. So all in all an entertaining game. Next week at the recreation ground Stanwell face Hampton Hill in the 3rd round of the premier cup so as much support as possible would be most appriciated.
