Diplomats resume talks in Ohrid
Greek diplomats are today to join their counterparts from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) in Ohrid for talks with United Nations special envoy Matthew Nimetz on the Macedonia name dispute. Today’s meeting, to be hosted by FYROM’s Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki, aims to break the deadlock ahead of a NATO summit in April when the alliance is to decide whether to invite the tiny Balkan state to join. A second meeting is due to take place in Athens in due course. Athens has hinted that it will veto FYROM’s NATO bid if it insists on calling itself “Macedonia.”
