Thanks to all of you for your advice. I have been trying many of your ideas and they all have helped in some way. He still is very against the idea but the talking does seem to be helping him deal with the idea a bit. He wanted to see my tonsils today, so, I spent 10 minutes with my mouth wide open saying AHHHHH for him to take a glance. Then we discussed picking out a new stuffed animal or toy to take into surgery with him to help him be brave. He said "I don't want anything b/c I don't want to have surgery." So he decided to take his token blanket with him and he wants us to surprise him with something from the Cleveland Indians store. (We're in the Cleveland area)
I've explained his breathing will be better and he will not get out of breath so quick but the whole pain afterward thing still makes me hesitate. We'll keep working on this tomorrow. We have to be at the hospital by 6:30 am on Thurs. So I'll let you all know the outcome once we settle back in on Thurs. late afternoon. One comfort is the hospital is a Children's Hospital and they are very good with kids. They really focus on their needs, so, we are in good shape with the hospital staff. Thanks again to all of you!!! If anyone else has anything else, please don't hesitate to keep passing any ideas along. I'll look for the Curious George book. Is it Curious George goes to the hospital?
