I've been gone for awhile and there are some new faces (and I could use some refreshing on the old ones.) If you haven't done it recently could we do introductions?

Why did I come to this board? I was eternally grateful when I found this site! It is so nice to know we are not the only one with a SK. Plus you all give great insite on a lot of problems.

Sure, why not?

I'm Aimee, recently turned 30 and looking for gray hairs. DH is 31. SK Mitchell just turned 4. Non-SK (terrible toddler) Nicholas is 20 months. We live in Colorado.

There are also intros on the "Realm," if you're looking for anyone in particular! Lots of fun stuff on there, check it out if you haven't yet.

OK, here is my information...

March 1 2001, 6:14 PM

Name: Karey
Age: 32
DH: Larry (also 32)
SK: Matthew, age 3 3/4 and Leah, age 10 months
Location: PA
I stumbled across Kirsten one day who let me know about this site, and it has been so helpful and supportive. Especially since I can't seem to find any other SK's near me, and it can be a bit isolating.

I'll go next

March 1 2001, 6:23 PM

I'm Deborah 33-year-old spirited Mommy to spirited son Tyler-7.1, spunky son Sammy-5.10, spirited son Jackson (we call him Jackie) 3.6, and spirited angel child Elisabeth 18 months today. My husband is David, 37-year-old antithesis of me. We like to think of it as balance. We are a homeschooling family with Quaker spiritual values. The past two years have been wrought with upheaval for our family, but we've come to rest in a peaceful place. I'm not saying there aren't days when I want to tear my hair out, but mostly we've come to appreciate our children's spirits and feel very blessed. I came to this board early last year when we were in the midst of the last crisis that resulted in very positive changes for our family. Then I needed lots of support. I just came back last week after being gone for about five months. Now I'm feeling healed and strong and would like to return some of the support that helped me through a very difficult time.

intro

March 1 2001, 6:45 PM

I'm stephanie, 33 years old. My DH is also 33 years old. We were slam-dunked into parenthood with our little angel SK girl who is now 8.5 months. We live in New Mexico. Though being a parent is not exactly what I expected, I don't think I would have been nearly as attentive if I had not been blessed with my SK. Though she is now and probably will always drive me to the brink of insanity, I love her more than I ever thought I could love anything.

My info

March 2 2001, 6:20 AM

Highly Spirited Mom Angela (36)
DH: Steve (39)
Kids: Christopher (6.5yrs - SK and ODD) & Nicholas (2.5yrs - nonSK)
Location: MA

I started with this group years ago on another board and followed Kirsten over here. I love the support and the feeling of everyone understanding, which I don't get a lot of IRL. C was diagnosed with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) a year ago. He has really blossomed this year in first grade!

Just for you, Deborah

March 2 2001, 5:51 PM

I'm Robin (feeling old this week), married to Jack.
Robbie (now 6.5) is our sk, Scotty at 4.5 yo is the sk-look-alike. We adopted Tiger the cat last September. Robbie has blossomed this year too. I think he just gave his spiritedness to the rest of us and started to move on. Except for food fights and crowds. We're going to be pretty busy in the next few months so I may be around less, but in August we move overseas again, and I have a feeling I'm going to be needing all the support here more than you know.

OK, OK.....

March 3 2001, 10:11 AM

Karen married to mystery man. We're east coast transplants living out West with our 5 yo spirited son (who just may run all the way back the way we came from if I dont' keep a close eye on him) and our ultra-cool shelter mutt Roscoe. We're planning a move in the region where we currently live in order to see dh more often, and I'm leaving one of the best cities in the world so I'm not 100% happy with the prospect! So, we'll be pretty busy for awhile, too.

Hey- I'm way behind!

I'm Marie, 33, married to David, 32. We have three boys- Collin, 6 1/2 (non-sk), Jack, 5 1/2 (sk), and Preston 2 1/2 (non-sk, but definitely spunky, the child never stops moving!!). We are getting close to birthday season, so I expect some new potholes to appear in our recently smooth road!

returning to the loop

March 5 2001, 6:58 PM

I'm Denise and I have a ss Kaleb just 5yrs. and a spunky son Brendon 2 1/2 yrs. I used to visit this board and a few others a year ago. We took our computer to my husbands office and I didn't get a new one until fall of this year. I went back teaching part time Kindergarten this year and haven't had time to revisit until now. Actually things had been going pretty smoothly for awhile. It seems cabin fever has sparked my son's emotions again. I'm back in the loop and enjoying everyone's advice and stories. You are all soo terrific as usual.
