Grandstanding on guns at the United Nations: Can it do any good?

"Perhaps you saw the recent news stores that breathlessly announced that
the United Nations small arms conference, held in New York for two weeks
around Canada Day, has failed? Typically, such articles are accompanied
by claims that these noble efforts were somehow scuttled by the US.
Unfortunately, this tearful hand-wringing is completely phony. Maybe
even worthy of an Oscar."

This is the first paragraph of a longer article that is forthcoming in
the next issue of The Asian Outlook, a local Coquitlam English-Hindi
