Is nobody else a little chilled when they see these knife shops in our malls? Maybe we should start taking a hard look at the manufacturers and retailers of what is now the "weapon of choice" for our youth. People rant about the lack of necessity for handguns but take a look at the knives that are available at your local mall. Unless we're expecting Green Berets to shop here, why are these weapons so readily available? TONY RICHES EDITOR (Hope you're not suggesting a knife registry) WITH THE debate as to whether or not to abolish the firearms registry now in full swing, it seems there is confusion as to the difference between licensing and registration. Abolishing the registry will have no effect on licensing, which deals with background checks and allows officers to know whether or not someone is a legal firearms owner. Licensing will remain as it is. To those who honestly did not know the difference, consider yourselves educated. To those who deliberately mislead the public by suggesting that changes to the registry system would somehow affect the licensing system, shame on you.
