A call to arms ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------

In Canada, ordinary citizens are given firearms training and a permit to
carry a gun for self-defence. And no one in the general public has a
problem with this.

These gun-carrying citizens are the ones whom we see almost daily,
driving armoured cars full of money. What boggles my mind is that many
Canadians see the value in letting individuals carry a gun to protect
loonies and toonies, but when it comes to protecting human life, many
Canadians are absolutely opposed to it. The money carried by those armed
guards is insured and replaceable. The life of my sister or wife is not.

It is a fact that criminals will always have access to guns and other
weapons. Knowing that reality, why do we stop law-abiding citizens from
having the option of carrying the appropriate means of self-defence? Do
we really all agree that only money is worth defending and that human
life is not?
