Re: Dawson College students

We seem to have a renewed sense of fear generated by Dawson College
students calling for a ban on self-loading firearms. I'm not surprised
that some of the students, victims and the public are still traumatized
and horrified by the actions of a deranged person.

I'm disappointed that the students have responded with an ideological
stance for the reduction of societal rights and freedoms. We need to
learn from history to associate balance with the dangers of
well-intended pacifist legislation that has caused misery in our past.
Crime and tyranny are as inherent today as throughout our history and
those lessons give us a more educated comprehension of mankind's
skeletons in the closet. My fellow Canadians need to be very careful
what they wish for.
