ESTEVAN (Special) -- A 41-year-old Carnduff-area man was sentenced to 45
days in jail after he pleaded guilty to weapons and drug charges
Thursday in Estevan Provincial Court.

Jody Bonnor pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of firearms while
prohibited and another of possession of marijuana. Eight other charges
were stayed by the Crown.

Bonnor was arrested Dec. 14 when a search warrant was executed at his
rural residence.

Court was told that Bonnor had three firearms and ammunition while
prohibited from doing so. He also had over 300 grams of marijuana in his
possession.

Bonnor was given credit for double time for the 35 days he had been held
in the Regina Correctional Centre while remanded in custody. He was
sentenced to an additional 45 days in custody to be served on weekends
at the Regina Correctional Centre.

He will also be on five months of probation, commencing at the end of
the jail sentence, and a mandatory lifetime prohibition from possessing
firearms.
