Acknowlgements to your summing up of the politics involved in the two world wars but feel that although the Falklands were indeed worth defending,Thatcher knew an invasion was planned through British Intelligence but chose to let it happen and take us to war to get re-elected.
Regards Afghanistan although i don't get sucked in by propaganda and government spin it does make sense to disrupt extremist terror groups at source rather than relying on stopping them at or within our borders. But to take that policy to it's next logical step would mean even if we managed to sort Afghanistan out we would then be turning our attention to Pakistan. And what of Saudi Arabia(birthplace of Bin Laden),Algeria and fuck knows how many other muslim countries that breed extremists? The 'WAR ON TERROR' could go on indefinately. The Afghans have sent many, including us and the Russians, packing over the years ( the Russians were trying to do it on a two bob budget) but they can be beat with more commitment and support from the government and without the restrictive rules of engagement our boys have to adhere to,neither of which will happen. My guess is we'll gradually pull out under a smokescreen of 'job done' propaganda lies.
Personally i'd like to see us climb out of Americas arse, fuck NATO off ( which after the fall of the iron curtain serves us no purpose and we're just the cannon fodder for),go neutral and keep our fucking noses out of everyone elses business, thus not putting ourselves up as the big fucking juicy target we are at the moment
      Regards
