The Warlock^3 Project

Here you can make comments about my attempt to create the most accurate Warlock class Destroyer model. If you haven't seen the images just visit http://warlock3pro.tripod.com/.

your model is awesome!

by tasman_devil

I recently surfed around the net, to find suitable b5 models...

Your warlock model is one (in not the best) i've seen so far!
There's only one remark i'd like to make: try to look at other people's models, and try to figure out how to make it MORE real! )

great ship, but wrong beam color

That's a really amazing model! Unlike it's predecessors, though, it has a blue fusion beam instead of earth's customary red x-ray laser

Actually the beam colour is right.

by

It is just fanfic speculation that put the fusion beam on the Warlock. It mounts two particle beams comperable to the GOD satelites. Check out The Warlock Project for info like weapons load, etc. All based on quotes from cannon sources like Tim Earls (creator of the Warlock).

check b5tech.com it says that the warlocks main weapons (Enhanced Fusion Beam Cannons) were first put onto the Shadow enhanced Omega's there beam color was blue so therefore the warlocks must be too

That's old data. We now have info from Tim Earls (the designer of the Warlock) that the main guns are GOD particle beams. I suggest you check out http://warlock.isnnews.net

on b5tech.com it says that the warlocks use enhanced fusion beam cannons (not the standard ones off the GOD platform) the enhanced ones are the ones off the OCD-X and there blue

all info from b5tech is spot on so tim earls is ether confused or it wasnt tim earls that sent ya the data

That statement is old

by

The fusion weapon statement is an OLD statement which Tech Master (the owner and operator of b5tech.com) accidentally forgot to remove from the description. The fusion weapon information was a guestimate by TM. Check here, you'll notice that the fusion weapon isn't included in the data table so the contradiction is by TM.

Your missing a plasma cannon turret

by B.G.

Hellow I was looking at your modle and while it is a superb one I noteced your missing a plasma cannon turret. The turret I am refuring is located on the top of the ship behined the railgun turret on top of the ship. To see whut I am talking about see your pic of the Warlock jumping out of hyperspace and into realspace.

Yes, I would really like to see just a side view of the ship. I'm trying to compile a B5 ships size comparison chart and this is one of the best modelings of the ship I've seen!

Please make some "preview" JPEG's for the orthographic views (side, front, top, etc...) with a black background.

Thanks!

Important information Chris!!

by

I was looking at your first renderings of your Warlock model, and I realized something. One of the Heavy Plasma Cannon turrets is missing! If you look at the leaked images and compare them to your model, you'll see what I mean. The turret that's missing is on the dorsal side, just abaft the forward railgun turret. I don't know if anyone else noticed it too, but I thought I should point it out!

A quick update

by

I had a little bit of a scare today. I tried to open the model... and it wouldn't open. When I looked at it in Windows Explorer, the file wasn't the proper 7 megs, but only 2 kb's.

I had a back-up, but it was fairly old (only partly finished the main body). All I can say is thank goodness for slow computers! My computer was running really slowly at about the time of the back-up, so I merged most of the objects from the main body section into a new file. By merging them, I have averted disaster

I have begun the task of lighting the scene, I have finished the recovery bay and the green and red lights on the recovery bay and repair bay respectively. The model should be done tommorrow or Tuesday

I'm glad things worked out... Losing that much work would be devastating.

BTW, do you plan to release the model in other formats, since MAX is proprietary? (like 3DS, DXF, LWO) I'd like to take a peek at your model in Truespace, even though the poly-count will probably melt my weak computer.

eye candy!

by

Eye candy! plain and simple. oh yea baby. here is a webpage: http://www.tecr.com/tigerclaw/cgi/ This person has several great views of the warlock class i think he made. Anyway, he has several small turrets on the top of the ship between the main ones. I was wondering if you could comment on these if weather or not they are accurate or anything less. Great job! I like your forward fighter bay. I looks very standard with earthforce in many of their ships designs. also, the current texture of the hull i think is a great one. Great accuracy to the pics seen of the show and released photos!

Continuing looking forward to updates,
Donald.

the Small Turrets

by

If you ask me they look like the anti-fighter turrets from the Omega Destroyers. He most likely ripped them off of some Omega Model. It would make sence to have these on the Warlock, but I can't recall seeing any on the Warlock in Crusade and you only see the missle launcher in A Call To Arms. If i had to bet money i'd say they most likely have a new kind of Anti-fighter weapon. Hope i didn't impede on your territory there Chris Ohh yeah...still no B5mg

good idea

I like that line of thought. I was thinking they were anti starfighter turrets, but what type, i'k leaning toward rail guns or something similar to what the starfury carries. My second line of thought is that they are some sort of interseptor like on the rosevelt class. maby even both. oh well, maby we will se if they renew the babylon series again (praying like hell that they do)

YES Crusade MUST be restarted!!!!!anyway...i belive by the look of them that they are the same type that are on the Omega Class, but may be the same as the Omega-X class, which were heavy Fusion cannons...sort of like the Mimbari, but based on shadow tech. Could be either...be cool if they were the later

AR! AR! AR! MORE POWER!!! hehe, anyway, Your probably right on the omega class weapons, but i think they are scalled down just a little smaller than that. The nova class drednaught is listed on Babylon five Technical Manual as 1,455.6 meters. I think that is accurate because of the main cannons on the warlock. But also the omega is listed as 1,717.3 meters long. The main and secondary weapons are smaller than the nova's considerably but also pack a bigger punch. I have a couple of pics i can e-mail to you to show the difference in size. I currently think that having fusion cannons, except for the main gun on the front of the ship is wishfull thinking. If they are some sort of major weapon, they are probably the medium energy weapons from the omega. But i do think they look just a bit scalled down from the omega's. the webpage for the Babylon 5 technical manual is : http://www.tecr.com/b5tech/
I like this sight, although, it does have some major cob webs. e-mail me if you want the side profiles of the omega and the nova.

Well, I use 3D Studio MAX. I found it pretty easy to get used to, but I do have abnormally good spacial perception. You can buy this product at any high tech computer store (eg. a place where you might find SGI computers), but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag. If you're looking for a good, free program, I suggest you try POV-Ray, but I'd suggest you get the modeler, it'll prepair you for the bigger packages like 3DS MAX.

I think your top and bottom areas on the "Omega section" aren't shaped quite right... But I could be wrong...

Have you seen this site? They have shots of the official model (one of them), go down to the Omega section:

Perhaps you are looking on the wrong section of the omega? They are subtly different along the length of the ship. But the parts near the engines look identical on both ships IMO.
