AS it's been some time since we had an album from the girls an idea for a new concept CD came to mind the other day while playing the cafe royal show.

Now we have had the re-recorded greatest hits cd, the christmas cd, so how about The Sound Of Philadelphia cd where you could put a cd together of songs like The Philly Medley that you did, where we could have new studio recordings of the songs that you do in the medley from other philly artists, Harold Malvin And The Bluenotes, The O Jays, Macfadden And Whitehead, The Trammps, and include songs like,
The Love I Lost
If You Don't Know Me By Now
Don't Leave Me This Way
Disco Inferno
Hold Back The Night
Love Train
TSOP
When Will I See You Again
Aint No Stopping Us Now
Only The Strong Survive
I Love Music
Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart
Let Em In
Bring The Family Back
Thanks For Saving My Life

And I'm sure there are a few more you could do, sounds like a fab album to!

Regards
Darrin.

It has been awhile since I posted. Darrin though it is a nice idea, they do not need to record more cover songs. Unless someone like a label is paying for it then do not pass up the opportunity to record. But the girls need NEW MUSIC PERIOD. No disrespect to your side of the Atlantic but they need good young producers on this side that could reintroduce them to all markets, let them maintain and but their sound to compete with current artists of today. They should leave the remakes to their live shows and tribute medleys. Even in that they need to use the Philly Medley as a template to choose songs that compliment everyone in the group vocally. Val can sing anything. Helen has a sweet soprano voice and style that sounds good on "Together" and some ballads and grooves. Cynthia has a rough bluesy and R&B voice that sounds good on the "Out Of The Past Into The Future" CD. Those songs were taylor made for them. If they do an album those original songs should be vocal ideas for them from a producer. But leave all the remakes and rerecordings alone unless forced to do it. They could do a 5 hour concert of remakes from their recorded catalog and leave out their original hits. This is just my opinion

I don't know why they don't record anymore. New albums came out from Eart Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor etc. Precious time is lost. OK, they don't need a hit (???), don't need to prove anything, we all know that but at certain times you need an album.
Take that new album of EWF: a fresh sound with young artists BUT it's still sounds like EWF. No remakes, because that's so damned difficult to do. Ofcourse, we don't know what the ladies think about their career. We also know that they are not exactly "recording artists" but live performers. Maybe a new live-recording ? Pls, Val, tell us your opinion too.

Gino...It takes time to do a good album and to find good producers. Now though it has been a long time maybe they have not found what they are looking for. I don't know. But they do not need another live recording. They need fresh new material with good production quality. The material has to be HOTT and sound "today" just like they adapted to the Moroder stuff but kept their tight harmonies. They need songs to where each vocalist is complimented and can sell the song as well as maintain the tight harmonies they are known for

Hey JMAN...By no means did I mean to come off fussy. Gino I hope you did not take it that way. I was stating my opinion and experience in the matter. Maybe Val can log on and add to this someday...
