I remember to this day when some friends of mine and myself went to "Small's Paradise" in Harlem to see Fayette, Valerie and Sheila live. We were quite young but were determined not to miss this NYC appearance.
Not only had I been super impressed with Fayette's incredible high range on record, but was SO thrilled when the group decided to sing "If And When" right there on the stage. Fayette hit these super high notes just as she did on the album. WOW!. Even THEN many so called singers couldnt deliver LIVE. NOT SO with this group.
Fayette was also featured on her solo "Good Morning Heartache". Valerie was featured on a medley containing "Maybe This Time" and Sheila sang a solo about someone "not touching her leg".
Valerie you may have thought this went unnoticed but SURPRISE! I STILL remember this show! You had "When" and "Dirty Old" out and of course sang them. I remember you were a little perturbed when someone in the audience just wouldnt shut up. You stopped the show for a few seconds until he did! IT was too funny.
As a singer myself, I "studied" many voices in order to ease myself into recording sessions. I wish to thank Fayette for displaying such amazing talent, control and for her amazing stage persona. It made a lasting impression on me.
Always,
Los
