1) Jim Swanson is a reporter. His opinion is no better than any of ours IMHO. He is certainly entitled to it, but that doesn't mean he is right nor does it mean that his opinion should sway others who have arrived at their own independant opinions.

2) Even had we kept Bowles, I don't think he would have won a banner or a series on his own, I'm not sure if any goalie could. IMHO, both Cyr and Bowles are good enough that if you put a solid team in front of them, they should win more games than they will lose. It's not like Cyr is chump change and it's not like Bowles is the most sought after tender in the league. Both are solid goaltenders who will need help from other areas.

I honestly think this season is going to come down to the defence. I think the goaltending is solid and I think the forwards will score enough once they get going. If the guys on the back end can do their job in an effective manner, we should be okay. If they can't, it doesn't matter who you have in net.

We also shouldn't rule out the possibility of trades as the year unfolds. Thompson will get active if he sees an opportunity and teams will be getting rid of assets as the year goes on. It happens every year, just not in October. I think we need a little bit of patience right now and we need to give Cyr some support, both on the ice and from the stands.
