as much as I admire your stance, you do realize that the ranks of the eternally optimistic are not stong enough to keep this team here right? You'll NEED critical fans. You'll NEED bandwagon jumpers. You'll NEED old season ticket holders to come back. You'll NEED people who are willing to shell out $50-$60 to take their family out for a night of entertainment.
Guess what? 4 of those 5 groups are fading fast, if they haven't already given up. One of your earlier posts talked about "real life". Well, it doesn't get much more real life than this and like it or not, the players are involved in this saga as well. They can do their part to get people back in the seats by actually playing like they have a heart or they can come out, feel sorry for themselves and continue to play uninspired and inconsistant hockey. Ownership can do their part by making decisions that show that they are serious about winning or they can continue to fumble their way through yet another year, with nothing to show for it.
Regardless of what happens, the number of people attending games will continue to be the standard as to how this franchise is doing and I can tell from your posts that you are smart enough to realize what that real life example is telling you.
