Actually I thought the idea of each team being able to protect one local player was a great idea. WHL hockey is an entertainment business, and what better way to generate customer interest is to have a hometown superstar on the team. It would also give WHL teams more reason to get involved in Minor hockey and develop players when they know they can get first shot at the best of the best. However, as far as the rest you said about Ron, I agree.
