I like you believe the best case scenario is a well run WHL franchise. But if that's not to be, it's a good point as to what a Spruce Kings team would look like in the Plex. Suddenly they have 3000 fans, which means money, which means better players, coaches, etc. Which possible means a banner of some type.
I for one would go to Kings games if it weren't for that crappy seating in the colliseum. If the Brodsky show goes, I'll easily switch my $ and time to the Kings if they're in the Plex.
A little off topic, but there seems to be this belief that not supporting the Cougars is almost like treason.
Prince George doesn't have a Chapters bookstore, so let's say some bigshot rich guy brings one to town. You start to buy your books there but the staff are always surly, the selection isn't as good as it is in other Chapters, and it doesn't even have a Starbucks attached like other Chapters. As with any commercial transaction, no one would blame you for not shopping there, and no one would rag on you for not "supporting" the best possible bookstore in town. And no one would shed a tear when that store left town.
Probably the difference is to the disaffected fans on this site such as Pucks, Tombstone, CSF, etc., is we can't help but express our frustration that our team doesn't need to be the way it is, and possibly the only way to change it is to no longer support it. It's a gamble, but it's a sure thing if Brodsky got 4500 plus fans again, he'd probably hire another dickhead like Dana, and find an unemployed 3rd cousin somewhere to coach the team. So the gamble for the "non-supporters" is to quit going and take the chance economic pressure will force Brodsky to hire quality people, or he'll sell and get out of Dodge. These people, and I count myself as one of them, are willing to risk losing WHL hockey in the hopes of getting even better WHL hockey. Those of you who say support at all costs are really saying you are willing to support fan abuse no matter what the cost.
The reason we keep posting and talking about the Cougars is we support quality WHL hockey, and feel the best way to get it, is to drive Brodsky broke or out of town.
Now if someone can show me how 4500 plus fans will get Brodsky to hire competent GM's and coaches, I'm willing to listen, but I ask you, why didn't he do it years ago if that's what he's willing to do?
