Alex Wright is not the answer for the Cougars and the Cougars are not the answer for Alex Wright. Have watched most of the Spruce Kings games this year and aside from a couple of pretty good performances against very very weak teams he has been mediocre at best and on some nights downright poor. Also think jumping ship at this point speaks to his character and not in a good way. Seems to me the Kings have welcomed him back two years in a row after failed WHL attempts and now they start to build around him and he bails again. Definitely wouldn't be a guy I would want on any team I was a part of and the Cougars should feel the same way if they are serious about building a group with character. I wouldn't see him playing in the WHL as a 20 year old and he wasn't able to play anywhere else in the WHL as a 19 year old until now. This makes no sense to me whatsoever, not for Wright or for the Cougars. Dallas, desperate times call for good decisions not for desperate measures. Torbohn is a pylon in an RBK wrapper, Medland Marchen and Gibb couldn't play Junior A and would be average Junior B players this year. Forsberg, Bidlevski and McDonald are the only legitimate WHL D currently playing and they are way in over their head as far as the amount of minutes they are having to play and the situations they are playing in. Thiessen couldn't crack another lineup in the league and while he brings a solid work ethic has no longterm upside, Jackson has been a problem guy wherever he goes and is not a leader. Dallas solves the problem by bringing in a goalie from Junior A. Wow! Somebody please tell me how this does anything for the team in the short term or the long term! |
