Is anyone else sick and tired of Pete being slated by the media every single day?
In my opinion the guy is a living legend.
He is a very talented musician, completely entertaining and I don't believe him to be anything like the person the media portray to us on a daily basis.
The press just dont like pete and will try to ruin his career in any way.. well guss what its not working the cock ends.. This is to the press

you know what I fucking hate. when you tell someone you went and saw babyshambles last night and they go on about junkie pete and shit and then i ask them wether they just dislike pete or the music and they have never heard anything by shambles or the libertines.
It is so f**king disgraceful the way certain types of people in society make him out to be so bad when they have zero knowledge of all he SHOULD be known for, not what is written about him by media scum.
My friend argued that he would not be famous with out the media and all the stories, maybe not as well known, but the fans would still know who he is, and to be honest - I bet he'd rather be known to few as Pete Doherty - singer/songwriter than to many as Junkie Doherty etc etc

I know! I was really excited telling people I got to hold his hand on Monday night and the response I got was either 'so he's a mess' or 'you better get yourself to the doctor after touching him'.

theres a storie on the daily mail page on the net dont no if it was in the paper cos i dont read it it was petes rodie,body guard, skivvy, whoevers account of what happened the other night when mark died. i tried to leave a comment but guess what? they didnt print it and guess what? the only comments on there were from haters who only probs no ov pete what they read in the fucking paper any way what happened till innocent untill proven guilty and what makes pete any more guilty than any one else in the flat that night the things they do to sell papers!!
i hope none of you guys or your future kids die of drug abuse because you think its ecceptable to openly abuse drugs when you are a role model for the public. shame on the guy. im just waiting for the day he becomes the next kurt cobain and kills himself.. you know its coming sooner rather than later.. hes the type that cant fizzle away in to obscurity he will have to do it and i will dance on his grave with joy when he does.

Actually I lost my ex boyfriend to heroin so I do know about drug abuse. Pete does not golrify it, he justs gets on with his own life, making his own descions (like we all do) trying to promote his fantastic band in the process.
It makes me sick how people slate him, they dont know him, I dont know him either, but I love his music, I think he is extremely talented and the fact he chooses to escape behind drugs does not make him any worse a person then someone who escapes in online computer games, or someone who escapes through alcohol, or any other means!
To say you would 'dance on his grave' is sick and nasty. People on drugs need help - not hindrance. And great people should be seen as what they are whilst they are alive - not just honoured in death like so many are.
And you are being stereotypical and wrong by saying 'everyone who is not a fan thinks he is a dirty skaghead rotter' - thats not true at all. I know professionals who can't stand his music, yet still have the kindness and are open minded enough to accept that he is just another human, another musician, another person who has fallen victim to drug abuse.
For whatever reason a person chooses drugs, it is rarely because they are a bad person, it usually because they are troubled and I say usually so I am leaving that space for the execptions to this statement.

But he is an adult and makes his own descions, and it is not up to anyone else to decide for him, just like im sure you would not let anyone make a desicion for you, be it good or bad. People do make wrong desicions, but they are still people, and still deserve respect, help, and freedom like everyone else. He has not killed anybody, he has not hurt anybody, he is only harming himself and quite frankly he seems to be ok with that - so why should anyone else care?

I used to be a user/abuser however you wish to put it and i would NEVER EVER condone the use of any drugs.
I think I may have given you the wrong impression of what I am trying to say, and that is my fault for choice of words and phrases.
I do not agree with drugs. I pity victims of the drugs world, from the user/abuser to those close to those who use/abuse to those made to look like bad people for their addictions and so on.
Yes a responsibility does come with his celebrity status, but being a celebrity does not make it any easier than the average person to be clean of such a strong addiction.
I cannot see anybody 'defending' his drug taking - I can not speak for others but I am defending him as another human, a human who admittedly makes mistakes. You make it sounds like he goes on stage wearing a t-shirt that says "hey kids - take drugs its cool!". Ludicras.
We 'The Fans' do care! We care enough to defend his honour against all those who can only see him as bad.
I would love to see him clean, and I hope so much that the day will come when we all do, and I know that when he does beat his addictions, he'll expire to be one of the greatest icons in the industry I'm sure.
But a person needs support, through both the good and bad times, by his friends, family and in this case his fans too.

What a hipocrite. They expect shambles fans to take drugs because Pete does, which is ridiculous but they themselves believe exactly what the tabloids have told them about Pete and haven't bothered to know anyhting properly about Pete. Shouting for the death of another human being because they go along with what they are told in ignorance.
how can you have a name like leftism when you are so close minded and so unlike a freethinker? And the fact you don't know anyone who likes Pete shows how close knicked you keep your social groups and how little you must know.
A lot of the lovers of the bands : Franz Ferdinand, The Fratellis, Razorlight, The Kooks, The Killers, The Zutons, Kasabian and a few others dont realise that if they read up on their fav bands they will notice all the bands above all state that Pete / Libertines / Babyshambles have all influenced there music.
The man is a living legend and does not get all the credit he deserves, am sure Pete gets more publicity for taking drugs than a Murderer does (maybe not lately!).
At the end of the day if you take away the drugs and the trouble side of things we got one talented lil star here its a shame narrow minded people harp on about his bad side cause thats what you hear about i mean i find it so funny that he gets front page news on your daily mail(spawn of satan newspaper)yet prob 95% have never heard some of the best lyrics ever heard out this country in years.also listen to albion and it paints a true image of britain i just wish people listen and not judge before hand so pete i salute you sir a giant among little men and no matter if he is clean or not he will all ways be hounded.........
They slate him for all the bad he does (which is no worse than any other pop or rock star) and yet he is about to marry one of the most beautiful women in the world, he has the most amazing talents, he has an album packed with songs that make me smile when I am at my lowest and I am just one of many who his music inspires. How can this not be seen as an achievment and only seen as bad??
well my opinion on this is that the press are way to harsh. i think the problem for the press is that they haven't listened to enough of his music.
Therefore they all think hes just another junkie when hes really not.
