Hi Guys... this is a serious message for once, re: TIMEWATCH which is on tomorrow morning on B.B.C.2/SKY CHANNEL 102.The episode is entitled 'The Iron Coffin' and is about an American Civil War Conflict that saw the worlds first combat between ironclads the Monitor and the Merrimack. And Whats more it's a MICHAEL PRAED narration. Hooray!!! So tune in at 11.10 am(British Summertime) if you want to watch, or set your recorders if you want to record it. Cheers, Jacci.
Thanks for that info.I think Michael would be great reading a Jackanory story, they have lots of different actors etc doing that now,for eg Martin clunes, and whats best is it is repeated over and over, what do you reckon?
Hi ya Helen, hope you had a good weekend... You're welcome to the Timewatch posting, as is everyone of course that's why I post the info' as and when I can.
You make a good point about 'Jackanory' I for one would love to hear him narrating some of the stories. Do you know though Helen that M.P. has narrated a small number of children stories the one that comes to mind is 'Beyond the Deepwoods' written by Paul Stewart and narrated by Michael. Why don't you maybe buy it for one of your children as bedtime listening and you can sit in and listen with them! Hundreds of Times!! He also is on a audio recording episode of Dr Who 'The dark Flame' by Big Finish Productions. M.P plays the character 'Proffessor Slyde'. Also you may want to have a look at FANFARES 'As Inspiration...' pages to view some other stories that have been inspired by M.P. although they are not based on the man himself.
More Michael? Absolutely! Bring it on!!...
By the way are you joining us for our first adventure to Milo's Island?...
Y'know... Michael has just a fabulous voice - speaking and singing. He could read anything and make it worth listening to. His voice is really quite hypnotic.
It's a pity he can't do recordings of my course books... would make the whole process much easier!
There are actually a lot of great books he could do serious justice to!
Helen, i'm not sure what ages your children are, but Michael has also narrated 5 books in The Roman Mysteries series by Caroline Lawrence...... definitely worth a listen
I could seriously become interested in Jackanory (again) A x
Thanks to you all for extra info about Michaels work,I am trying to collect as much as possible,
Sylvia -Jackanory junior is on c beebies and a really nice updated return of good traditional stories to the littlies,my daughter watches them over and over and over and over.
Jacci, defo count me in for Milo island but I think we need to think about protection, yes!it has been very hot today so factor 50 could be in order and how about sunhats with the best male on,to match the pillowcases perhaps,we dont want to end up all wrinkly prematurely. (the rum doesnt help with the dehydration, could be ageing but fun.
Heh heh Helen... Good to know that you're signed up for the voyage ahead... and you too Joanna! Brilliant idea about the Sun Factor and hats Helen , can you see that everyone gets some?
Bless you, for providing that extra info' about Caroline Lawrence and her 'Roman Mysteries' Aileen...
I think that Ilse knows quite a lot about them too, so if you want any extra info' Helen, I'm sure Ilse will be only too willing to assist, she's a really lovely girl....
Okay...times running out now for any other crew members who want to set sail with us, I think we can only wait for the next tide and then it's anchors away guys... now I've really got to go and find H.P...
information about children's stories read by Michael
June 10 2008, 11:01 AM
Jacci, indeed I would have given information about children's stories read by Michael. That was very kind of you to mention my name for this matter. I am glad that Celeste was faster than me with that. I missed Timewatch this morning. Hopefully there will be another one to watch.
If you check the Merchandise section of Fanfare, you'll find a lot more narrations, and a listing of material that has been released. You might want to take a look.
If you'd care to look at my earlier message re: 'Thank you'... I think you'll find that I did make mention of both Celeste and 'Fanfare' regarding where more and full info' could be obtained as to both M.P's narrations/inspiration, regarding audio books audio books could be found...
However, just to make it absolutely clear to anyone.... Further info' re: Michael Praed Narrations/audio books can be found on 'FANFARES 'As Inspiration...' and also.... 'M.P's C.V' pages on Fanfare...
Do so hope this clears up any misunderstanding...
Regards to you all... Jacci.

I DID notice your earlier message, Jacci. You mentioned Fanfare, which I appreciate, but since the 'As Inspiration' page only mentions one narration and the 'Merchandise' page lists them all (and all together), it is probably a better reference for someone looking for Michael's narrations. The 'Roles' page on Fanfare is somewhat better in that all the narrations are mentioned, but titles are sprinkled throughout the list and have no vendor links. 'Merchandise' has links to dealers. That's why I added it to your suggestion. Sorry if I inadvertently stepped on your toes.
Heh it's not a problem and nobody stepped on my toes! That's usually my forte... as Michael Praed found to his cost!!
Nope, just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of where they could find further info re: books etc and thanks for the extra tip regarding the 'merchandise page' Celeste. Cheers Jacci
Thanks again for all the info,I watched Timewatch this morning and didnt hear a single word because I was just concentrating on that dreamy voice.
Went for my usual walk this morning and was talking to a woman with a dog which just so happened to be called MILO,i really had to refrain from launching into the whole Sleuth thing, people already think I am mad.
Best wishes.
Helen.x very jealous of Sylvia today.
...you enjoyed todays episode of Timewatch Helen. I sometimes think he could read the London Telephone Directory and he'd still be able to make it sound sooo interesting and sexy too...
Don't forget that if you've got a Video/D.V.D. recorder then you can record them and listen to your hearts content...
My little grand daughter Mollie actually carries the photo that I've got on my desk of him around with her and says to anyone who'll listen to her 'He's Gorgeous...!' Great taste that girls got!!!...
...great to hear from you again!
and thanks for the email will get one off to you as soon as poss'. Aww.. thanks for the thought of a card with seashells on, for me Ilse and you're very welcome aboard H.M.S Prince Michael ANYTIME!! If you think of any other audio books that would be suitable for Helens children to listen to then please let Helen know... Take good care pumpkin... Hugs Jacci.
I only know the narrations for children done by Michael that are mentioned on this official website. This gives me a new idea. Robin of Sherwood would be fun on audiobooks. Perhaps Network54 could do something with that. Then blind people could enjoy Robin of Sherwood too.
Thank you,I have taken everyones advise and looked at the merchandise list etc.I think yours is a briliant idea I can imagine for eg that we on the forum would buy them,I have managed to get a few of the audio books from ebay so can listen to that voice even whilst driving.
Happy to hear that you could find more narrations by Michael. If you knew what kind of names people give me than you would be surprised. I get Isle a lot from English people, and Dutch people call me Else, Illesa, Elise, Ielse. Don't worry I am not angry. Enjoy your coffee.
I did not mean that Michael should narrate the complete Robin of Sherwood series, but that the original sounds with dialoges and music could be recorded on compact discs. I recommend that the non-dialogue parts could be narrated too then.
Sadly just realised that Timewatch was on this morning and will not be on tonight but hey that's what BBC iplayer is for isn't it? If you missed it / didn't record it / just want to see it again I will see you there.
Ohhh, thanks for that piece of info' Amanada... I wasn't aware of that and I'm not sure if Ilse was either.
See, that's what is so great about sharing info/tips, as what you don't know... someone else just may do!!
Cheers Amanda... Jacci
