Tall player golf

Response to Re: An impossible dream

Your comments really hit home with me Tom. In my case I have irons 7* upright and if I used conventional lofts would be 1" over length. I set my wedges to 9 iron length. My Driver is 45" and I only carry 1 fairway wood for the reasons you describe.
If I can explain myself I see the tall player problem arising as follows.
The standard Ben Hogan type swing with an erect posture and round the body action is built around a wrist break that would see the wrists break vertically from the set up position ie towards the thumbs using a weak grip (Thus keeping the clubface square but out of plane) If you do this and turn your shoulders 90* you are in Ben Hogans top of backswing position (remember to stand erect when you do it). this is how Hogan described the wrist break in Power Golf.
It's not perfect and for reasons of parallax I believe led to the Hogan "secret"

Because the tall player bends over and his shoulders do not turn so much level to the ground problems arise that are not addressed by Hogan type technique.
You would think as he moved to shorter clubs Hogan would face this but he simplified his action by opening his stance and retaining his posture so keeping much the same swing groove for all clubs
Problem is I can't do it. My shoulders turn at an angle to the ground not essentially level to it and I always had a big turn.
In my case I solved a lot of my problems by moving towards Blakes technique though I don't think he ever meant his ideas to specifically solve this problem at all.
I would like to hear if you have made any unusual swing adjustments to accommodate your height.
