I am trying to understand the advantage of bending the upper body to the right in the backswing as Mindy did in his swing. It reminds me of the Bertholy maxim of "slandicular." Does this move result in greater power and distance?

In GTTB Blake wrote in the 'Address' section: "The head is in a natural position, with the face turned under so that it points at a spot about two feet ahead of the ball and, if it is turned a little more, it is possible to see the hole, with the left eye vertically above the right eye. The trunk has bent to the right slightly to get the head into this position and the head should be as far back (that is, behind the ball) as is comfortable." The slant results in optimum head position at address to accommodate desired head movement during the swing.

In the 'Through the Ball' section he wrote: "The head turns in a vertical plane (the right eye immediately under the left), which prevents any tendency to pull round with the shoulders and enables you to watch the clubhead go through the ball." SD
