Hello everybody, its been some time since I participated in an RP, the tournament awhile back was great, the aborted storyline went along very nicely for sometime, and other board campaigns have been great fun while they lasted. Sadly what with classes and whatnot that I've had going, little time has been available for interacting with my friends and comrads here online. Regretable sure, but unavoidable for the time being. Anyway, since I don't have a whole helluva lot of time to role play, I needed to find another outlet, and i figured whatthehell, if I can't play interactively, I'll at least have fun in the other way I used my characters in the past, and be a storyteller. I do hope many of you will choose to read the Plot I post, and moreso hope that you enjoy it all, comments suggestions, offshoot stories are of course welcome as always. I'll try to post a little bit every day until the saga is concluded, now, on with the tale:
In the distant times, ages before the great kingdoms arose in the east, in a far distant place many miles beyond what was then the furthest reaches of the known world, there existed a continent. On this continent there were many nations that struggled for unity, when they achieved unity, they struggled for security, when they achieved security, they battled for dominance over one another. After generations of bloody battle, the whole of the west and north had been brought under the domination of a single throne, that of the Godslayer who ruled on high at Agropanios.
The eastern half and southern half of the continent by contrast, was divided amongst many nations, they squabbled often amongst one another at first, but as they awakened to the danger of the west, they began to unify in opposition to the growing power of the empire. They began by building a series of great fortresses, to which each nation contributed a supply of troops, food, weapons, and other necessary material; to hold back the western forces. But those were easily isolated and their collapse was a foregone conclusion. Decades of war following war following war, finally ended when the last free eastern nation, surrounded, outnumbered, and out maneuvered, saw its borders crumble and its guards retreat, when the capital city was captured, the consolidation was quick and thorough, a six month amnesty saw the softer resistence whither to nothing under relaxed policies, and the stiffer resistence was isolated and destroyed without mercy. However, what remained of the opposing kingdoms had not been completely exterminated. When imminent defeat was clear to the wisest of the Princes and Kings, they took council amongst one another, and began to pull their finest armies little by little, out of the alliance, their craftsmen and traders, citizens of wealth or knowledge began to quietly disappear.
It was a minor mystery in the face of so much slaughter, but one that would prove crucial. The once great kings set their heirs at the head of several small fleets, and sent they and their very best subjects out on a perilous journey, while the kings themselves one by one fell to defeat or death, knowing at least that the spark of their nation still lived elsewhere.
When the last leader, the prince of the capital finally fell under dire siege, he fought only as long as he could delay the victorious empire, before at last leading a suicidal charge that cost him his life, and what was left of his throne. Archos did not know those ships were gone, nor what they bore, neither did the remaining citizens know that many of their people had left them behind. The reduced population and the loss of so many capable people could only be attributed to the wars and plagues and assassinations that had taken place over the preceding decade.
The ships had gotten away safely, and for nearly a year they sailed, before landing on a new continent, the land proved to be massive, but more importantly for the small population of refugees, it proved to be inhabitted by little more than primitives. The campaign was swift and bloody, but the allied kingdom's remains overwhelmed and gained lordship over the whole land in less time than it takes to tell. Their advanced weapons and knowledge let them settle the fertile continent swiftly, and in a peaceable fashion amongst one another, which was important, since they sought unity with one another, a council government was brought together, representing each shipload of people. That council called itself, "The Hegemony" and within less than 500 years they had rebuild their former power and surpassed it. When they were confident of their ability to now wage a successful war of retribution, they began their assault, it is here that our story begins:
