Okay... After hearing of a few incidents where certain disagreements occured between players, I think it would be wise to instate a few rules of engagement.
For what purpose? To make a war storyline both effective and enjoyable. What happens in a war? People get blown up, shot up, sliced, diced, burned to ashes, and frozen... What is one of the dangers of roleplaying a war storyline? We take it too seriously, hunt each other down, and ritually disembowel our fellow players? NO! We disagree on what really happened because war indicates death. Lots of death. And few players like losing their characters. However, that happens. While some have said it is perfectly possible to have a war storyline without any player characters dying, these people were underneath the influence of far too many controlled substances when they said that. War is violent. War is deadly. Very violent, and very deadly. War is NOT fair. War does NOT make concessions, when claiming its victims.
I'll get to the point now
Mummies suck.
Now I'll really get to the point. Here are some suggestions on handling this storyline.
1.) No, characters do NOT have to ask permission of their targets to kill them. This goes for both sides.
2.) Is it okay to shoot at, hack at, and bomb innocent bystanders? HELL YEAH!
3.) What if you are an innocent bystander? Get the fuck out of the way.
4.) Be ready to kill or be killed when you are on the battle field. [no, it does not have to be an actual field!]
5.) Do I have any sympathy or regrets about innocent bystander characters being killed in the cross-fire. HELL NO!
6.) ......You might die!
7.) Don't walk into a warzone without your 'comrades' watching your back and expect to live. You may very well not. Be smart.
8.) Why am I saying this? Because the time taken to do so does not COMPARE with the time wasted in OOC arguments and disagreements.
9.) If this seems harsh - Good!
10.) Any comments, suggestions, insults, hate mail? Feel free to post it. Do not expect me to constatly listen, though.
