Watching in Silence

For days this one had watched, patient and unafraid. Plans were made, tested, discarded. Spies were sent into various areas...many killed in the crossfire and many shot on sight as being unrecognized as either foe or friend to one side or the other. The trinkets of information that did return, however, were well worth those expensive sacrifices.

No army was amassed, no weapon prepared. There were not even any hearings convened on the matter. And only one creature was sent out with the all-important missive imbedded in its simplistic brain. A beast of strange mixtures, this, with its body of a black house cat and the wings of an over-large raven. And the voice of Man.

It soared through the smokey regions of the Umbra, dipped through the thin veils of various planes, and finally alighted in a suitable place to find or be found by the Warlock Order. Their spies would have noted its coming long before it arrived, and the simple fact that it had no armament nor concealing magics about it should set it apart as a message-bearer.

Should it survive long enough, the winged-feline would deliver this message in a silky smooth purr.

     "Warlock Order,
Know that you have a friend amidst all the animosity besetting your attempts. Know also that said friend has at last seen your accomplishments worthy of note and indicative that contact may at last be made, at least in the most careful of approaches. Keep this pet as a token of well-wishes and a sign of things to come. It may, given opportunity, take flight one day to fetch further missives from this anonymous friend.
     Survive, Jaelen Westlock.
     ~A"

The cat, should it be tested, will be found to be quite easy to kill, though its cry would be heartbreaking.
