The defenses of the city and the surrounding area would be defended to the last man. Around the city, large pitfalls were dug and easily concealed by freshly fallen snow. Falling into the pits would mean death. The bottom of the pits were filled with mustard gas. Behind the traps, nearby single-story houses had been transformed into pillboxes just outside of the city.

Inside of Ishetta, every house was put to use. Troops garrisoned in every building. Windows were boarded up and machine guns were put into place across the city. To guard against aircraft, two seaplanes were docked at the harbor and the city was filled with Anti Aircraft weaponry.

Ethan personally led small raiding parties-- or went alone, after advancing Warolock Order troops. These fast guerilla raiders were on skiis and usually made one single pass; aimming for Warlock Order Officers and ammunition stores. The men that joined Ethan were normally locals--who used their superb skiing abilities to make up for some inaccuracy with firearms. Safe houses along the snowy plains were created out of hunting lodges to report new troop movements and act as a resting place for the raiders before returning to Ishetta.

By now, the Mutiny Alliance Navy had already withdrew from the Winterlands. In their wake, they left a minefield surrounding both cities. Effectively, this kept them from getting regular resupplies and reinforcements, but it would also keep the Warlock Order out. Although, secertly....a narrow passageway to the far North allowed ships to flow in single file. To prevent the Warlock Order fleet from raping the shores if they passed the minefield, fishing ships were equipped with smaller cannons and three ironclad Mutiny Alliance submarines patrolled the waters.

Communication was kept open with Snowcapp through small hunting trails used by the natives. Runners sent information back and forth regularly, either on foot or on skiis.
