*The high defenses that were suddenly slammed into the ground, were an inconvenience, but against such numbers it could nto hope to slow the charge. captured WO weapons were the prefered method of disposal here. elves were largely given them, due to their better eye sight and distance coordination, they made deadly marksmen even with grenade launching weapons. they targeted the crews manning the guns, and the ranks of men scattered like chaff on the wind, so that only dozens died at the terrible guns before a well placed shot would take them down, and the defense, which was already being by passed by and large, would then be overwhelmed by others, so that the center would not be left undefended. The whole of the army was intent on havoc. The attempt at gun emplacements had given Archos new respect for the training of the WO enlisted men. but he could not find much respect for the officers. he was sure now that victory would be his. the undead had not interfered at all, perhaps their controllers were dead or they were blowing themselves to pieces on the mines on shore. in any case it could make little difference now.
With those thoughts in his head, Archos raised his personal standard in one talon, and rushed towards the remaining center of the WO main defenses. swarming around them like a sea of swords intent on drowning them that stand, in a sea of blood.
((*el* nice try with the guns, but lacking immediate support any isolated defense would innevitably collapse when surrounded. dozens, perhaps scores of casualties would be inflicted by defenders, but it wouldn't hold for more than minutes at best without a line of support on the flanks. it would simply be circumvented, hit from the rear and sides and overwhelmed. still, i didn't expect it at that point. quite an able attempt, frankly i don't know that i could have done much better there. )) | |
