"War is merely an extension of politics, used as a means to an end."
~Machiavelli's "The Prince"
When the morning came on that fateful day and word came that the countryside spies had done their duties and raised up rebels and bandits against the WO, and that the dispatched lite companies were very busy burning WO stocks and supplies that were meant for the defensive perimeter, Archos began his next staged move, he split his army a score of times, many miles from the WO defensive perimeter. He then sent his units out in force to secure the roads and paths to all major cities and all the farms that have not been burned or poisoned accross the uprising countryside. The WO would attempt to counter he was sure. they couldn't afford not to. 250,000 troops use lots of food, more water, much beer and wine, and always there is the need for medicine and such supplies as are needed for basic sanitation. those would quickly begin to run short with the blockades in place on the roads and the villages and small towns starting to rise in arms.
The departure of the WO air corps. is rather impossible to hide, and Archos took swift advantage of their departure, he knew Tsana could handle herself. He therefor used this advantage to send his air corps out well ahead of hte march, keeping some behind just in case, but sending enough out to cause serious damage to the far north, not going near the line, they scout well ahead, spying out the land, before coming to northern galen thal, where they commence to burning all military structures, storehouses of food and supplies wherever they can be found. the bombardment of flame, and the siege of the Galen Thal defensive has begun.
Meanwhile, what is left under Archos's command quickly marches towards the front of the defensive line, out of range, but enough to be seen, he does not hide the pressense of his men on the distant hill. let them remain on edge and await his attack. it would come in time, but only when HE was ready, on HIS terms, not ever on his foe's.
(heh, this is getting better and better. *s*) | |
