| The hilt of the Baron's sabre was brought to bear upon the skull of another messenger who dared to harbor him with ill news of Archos' tactics. The man's head was already a mess of fractured bone and oozing, dripping, coursing blood and brains as the morbidly clad Dragon Legion general held him within his grasp by the throat and executed the hapless soldier through the method of slowly bashing his face into the other side of his head.
A sickening thud heralded Doriztenz' orders as his council looked towards the floor numbly. Not a single one of them would dare to even stare at the Knight of Oblivion's face. He was their Grim Reaper. Their fearsome and out of control Darth Vadar. And he still believed nothing could stop him...

The dragons' assault from the skies caused much destruction along the Hagalz line, as the morale of the troops trapped their and given their death sentence by the very ones whom they were about to sacrfice themselves, quickly continued to plumet.
Dragon Legion dwarven specialist companies made a sudden and methodically heroic attempt to counter the beasts of war. Their field artillery machines presented a new brand of anti-aircraft warfare to the Godslayer host.
Massive ballistas, worked from the Hagalz line, begin to fire away at the dragons - the heaviest targetted more often than the smaller, liter breeds. The spears fired by these mechanisms are quickly reloaded by specialist teams of Dragon Legion dwarves. The gunner fires his massive arrow from the position of a rotating seat that guided the firing mechanism to its target. A spyglass positioned in front of the dwarf's eyes allow the gunner to target the weaker underbellies of the great beasts of war when ever possible.
The warheads of these gargantuan spears are steel and honed to a razored glint by Dragon Legion specialists. The heads extend forewards in a viscious impaling tool, armed with serrated blades to make the injuries deeper and jagged. Waving razors shoot out two seconds after impact to create further wounds within the dragons.
These are still sparce in numbers, although that does not mean there are few of them. Backing the Dragon Legion ballistas are others which shower the skies in heavy spears, to add to the confusion. Which way are they coming from. The normal ballistas are not mobile, and are sitting targets - their crews and personel merely sacrificial lambs used as a distraction to help the Dragon Legioneers survive.
With the Dragon Legion Drow guerrillas beyond the Hagalz line slaughtering peasant rebels and the majority of the other ranger corps guarding and patrolling the gap between the Orcs' new base and the Hagalz line proper, there is little than can be done to protect officers except for them to walk with even more guards in their entourage. Even then, they will fall at an average of three per day (give or take) - until the Drow can be pulled off the backs of the renegade partisans.
After the battle, as could be expected, there is another round of guerrilla warfare raging in the wilderness between the Godslayer encampments and the Hagalz line as even more deserters are chased through the forests by the Drow. Most, of course, don't make it. But a few do, as always.
By now, some of these deserters are even offering their services to the Godslayer camp... At the least, they are all quite happy to hand over information. | |
