I am requesting a roll of Fortitude from CJ, at difficulty 6, in order for Alec's survival. Now, I consider this to be quite fair as many roleplayers would have just declared your character to be dead (as that is what logically was about to happen, anyways.) Now, if your Fortitude roll does not garner enough successes to save Alec then I am sorry. If so, then I will consent to him escaping and still being hunted by the Sabbat - albeit in far more numbers, likely, as he staged a direct attack upon Vanessa's haven and then Cypress'. Very bold. But also very costly.
Your mortal contacts, although they must have been very well paid and motivated to start a gunfight in the middle of Venway's richest residential district (a place full of "average" corrupted rich people who have very well-paid and armed bodyguards to protect them, let alone Cypress' mansion) are dead. They would not be able to run fast enough to escape a Black Hand Dominion and his followers, not too mention any number of underworld figures who could be blackmailed into killing them as well. We'll just say the sniper got them ... eventually.
Now, I wonder, if the exact situations had been reversed and Cypress had been consumed with a gigantic ball of flames, would you have had to go to Church at that exact second, CJ? In the end, I can only wonder, but not judge. I would hope that you have more roleplaying integrity than what I am forced to suspect by you having to leave a RP when your character was on death's door two nights in a row.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, however, and allowing you to fairly continue this, even allowing your character to possibly escape (although he'll have to make 6 out of 7 successes on the Fortitude roll at least in order to do so.)
Oh, and Thaumaturgic Countermagick will not work against spirit charms.
