Response to New Algonquin camper

Hey there Dustin,

I just planned a 5 day trip for 4 guys.
Basically, I didn't try and "Wing it" because I've done that before and someone always ends up miserable, which then makes pretty much EVERYONE miserable.

I agree with a previous poster, DO NOT rely on boiling water to clean it, go with the pills at least. I HIGHLY recommend a pump purifier because you boys are gonna be thirsty after a few hours in the sun portaging and canoeing. (Not sure if your planning on bringing water in, but if your portaging it's just extra load)

- HIGHLY agree with the bannock, it's super easy to pre-mix the dry ingredients and just add water. Each time I brought this out to mix the fellas were going nuts in anticipation.

- Pack lightly, half of the stuff you THINK your going to need, you aren't. There are a tonne of good video's on how to pack and some ultra light packing ideas.

- Might want to bring a small gas stove for cooking/warming up food. If there's a fire ban, which seems to be a trend in the past few years you'll be thankful you did. Dry noodle ramen are alright the first night.

- I'd almost suggest you get together with a buddy and plan out your breakfast, lunches and meals. Package the lunches in a large freezer bag and divy them out to share weight (unless your bringing a food barrel).

The trip will be awesome no matter how you make it, just pay attention to everyones exhaustion level (ie. know when to take a break), and everyones stomach. The rest will make it all worth while.
Oh and bring a camera.

Cheers mate
