I usually judge what I bring based on the number of portages. If you just plan on hanging out at Happy (and i cannot stress the benefit of the water taxi enough - its worth the money and more) there is no reason to go light on the food. Good food is the best part of a trip for me.
First night, steak steak and more steak.
Before I had my dehydrator I would bring pasta noodles with dry knorr pasta mix. Tasty enough.
Good samami will last too. I make sandwiches with tortillas. Packs easily and stays fresh.
If I go for a week, i want some good meals.
I love headlamps. I don't bring a latern, just a headlamp.
