Framing and light have played a very important role in all three winners. Tom Bennett's "Still There" is a lush summer study in green and blue, framed by trees. Mark Rubino's "November Glory" is a chilling pre-winter contrast of colours, also framed by trees. And Aaron Webber's "Smoke Lake Frame" is autumn's full warm colours framing the blue of lake and sky.

Still There - Tom Bennett - August 2006, between Big Trout and Longer. I saw these two fowl fellows, just after I got out of the tent. I went back to get my camera. I was surprised they were still there.
Second prize: a $60 gift certificate (1 night for 2 in a private room), courtesy of Ben and Robin at
The Wolf Den.
November Glory - Mark Rubino - Returning from Burnt Island Lake, we emerged onto Little Doe Lake from a darkening forest, to brilliant sunset colours. I couldn't help but notice the vivid contrast before me.
Third prize: an enrollment ($24 value) in the online Wilderness Cooking Level 1 Course, courtesy of Laurie March at

Smoke Lake Frame - Aaron Weber - When I got to the top of the Hardwood Lookout Trail, this jumped out to me, the way that the trees seemed to frame the picture.
