Looking for AA'ers to help me celebrate Access #15

Some time this year on any given weekend, I am looking for any AA'ers who might want to help me celebrate an historic point in my life.
I have been planning since my first interior trip to Big Trout back in 1966
that I would begin at least 1 interior trip from every access point in Algonquin Park. There are 29 of them and I have done 28 of them.
When I begin a trip from Access Point 15 some weekend this year, this will be the last access point I can check off my list. And I can't think of anyone else I would rather celebrate it then with members of this forum.
After all, you have been family to me over the years in my home away from home, Algonquin Park, the greatest Park in the whole wide world!!!!
Any weekend after July long weekend is good for me. It would just be a 2-nighter or even a 1-nighter. It doesn't matter to me, I just want to get this done as I've been procrastinating over the last few years.

Oh, and by the way, the champagne (in a plastic bottle of course) is on me!

If you go for more than a night, you really should try to make it to Scortch. Lovely views from a short hike up a trail on the south shore.

Depends on the dates
March 9 2008, 8:07 PM
Wow Mark!
That's a beautifull view.
Bo, I'm interested but it will depend on exactly when. Our Canadian summer season is so very busy!
Are you shoveled out yet? Our street has only been plowed through once with a pickup truck, for emergencies I guess. It's been over 12 hrs since the last snowflake! I was on Rosemount street today(near Parkdale) and was totally stuck. They hadn't plowed at all there when I left late afternoon today.
Spring is just around the corner!

Sounds good :-)

Been wanting to trip this area as well .
July/Aug/Sept sounds good but I'd prefer
Sept because of bugs ( and I don't want to
bring snowshoes to swat them )

Yes, I am all shovelled out! I just paid $40 to the lad up the street and he came over with his huge backhoe/shoveller and had my entire laneway cleared in 5 minutes. I refuse to do any more shovelling this year!!!!!

Hey Bo
Here's the cliff top from where the other photo was taken. This shot is looking up from behind the campsite at the east end of Scorch Lake.
Too far for me. I'll either camp on Kingscote or Scorch.

Cripes....no no no....not Scorch.
I'll definitely camp on Kingscote and go for lakers and try for specks in the two little lakes at the upper end.

Kingscote Lake again
March 14 2008, 9:56 PM
Bo,
I found Kingscote Lake to be very 'active' with cottagers and motorboats when I was
there mid-October a few years back. It would probably be worse in the summer months.
I would strongly suggest going to Scorch.

I'm interested in attending, but we will need to nail down a location and date soon so I can make arrangements.
and I also will need a heads up so I can get the time off.
Any idea of timeline for this??

Count me in !
May 23 2008, 7:39 PM
Hey Bo ....
After meeting you at the opener on Rose Island, all I can say is
COUNT ME IN!
I'm off all summer (gotta love the teaching profession) so anytime would be great for me. It doesn't take much of an excuse for me to go to the park these days, but an event like this is no ordinary "excuse" its a must attend event that is not to be missed.
Thanks for sharing in your personal achievement. I too would like to have the bragging rites to having visited every access point. You know though with Jeffrey's map out and on the "streets" now, you'll have a whole new set of access points to check off as well
What a coincidence that Peacher "bumped" this thread as my plans were just
finalized yesterday. The dates are Thursday August 21 to Sunday August 24.
Sheila and I will be arriving on Kingscote Lake on August 21st and some of my family (and even grandchildren) will be coming to help me celebrate this Algonquin Park milestone in my life.
All AAers are welcomed as well as you too are my "extended family". I can't wait to finally get this Access Point checked off my list!!! WOOOOOOO

98.9% sure I'll be there for Thurs/Friday
Perhaps I either have my Pack canoe or equivalent
but either way I'll be in a solo canoe as a good test
of this little craft for future solo use
